Creamtone

Fast & furious in a creamy world

Congratulations, Prae!

Was in Bangkok over the weekend and I attended the most beautiful wedding. Ever.

Prae is one of the most important people in my life — I have many great memories of studying and living together with her in Exeter, UK. She was the very 1st person I had gotten to know there. We met on the bus to campus on the 1st day of term of our 1st year at Uni. She was extremely chatty and engagingly charming. What really made her so special was that she gave me her telephone number by the end of that bus ride (without me asking for it!). Haha.

Anyway, I’m so proud of her and happy that she’s found someone to spend the rest of her life with. Yes indeed, they make a great couple. I wouldn’t have missed her wedding for the world. No, not even if a cockroach ate up both my legs and arms.

In a nutshell, it was a wedding celebration that lasted two days - starting with an evening boat cruise up and down the Chao Praya with cocktails and wine onboard, followed by a gastronomic Chinese-fusion Rehearsal Dinner @ YUAN (Hilton Millennium).

The next day, the wedding itself was held in a vast and gorgeous cathedral; it was a solemn, poignant and extremely touching ceremony. Yep. everyone had glistening eyes by the end of it. After that, we adjourned to The Oriental Hotel tea-room for some cakes, tea, wine and extremely delicious prosciutto on breadsticks (which we shamelessly gobbled on greedily).

In the evening, we were led to a magical garden covered with a thousand rose petals and walkways lined with flickering candles. There were hundreds of red and pink roses everywhere in this resplendent garden! We ate heartily from a buffet spread that included a most memorable Mussel Omelette (Mmm… delicious) freshly cooked by a dextrous chef with strong wok-flipping wrists. A live jazz band was playing and the garden faced the river so there was a cool breeze throughout… It was an amazing and lush experience.

We then took a party boat across the river to Hilton Millennium where we proceeded to dance and drink ourselves silly at The Beach, a super duper chillout club with an abundance of cushions and an Ice Bar that served alcohol shots in Ice Glasses. There was a stage built over the pool and a few famous Thai bands performed some tunes specially for the newlyweds. Buddha Bless really entertained with their energetic brand of Thai ragga-hiphop-reggae-pop. You should check them out; they’re pretty amusing!

Well, the night ended with everyone getting soaking wet. Whaddya expect when there’s a pool inside the club and a very, very drunk bride running amok? Haha… Such an unforgettable weekend.

Okay, it’s time to let the rest of the pictures do the talking…

Thanks to Stephen & Nina for being such great company and for sending me the photos. We gotta party again soon, either in HK, Bangkok or Singapore! And of course, dear Trixie, for agreeing to be my wedding date… I’m glad to have shared this experience with you.

Gonna upload more pictures and videos soon. Bookmark this entry!
